Magnitude 4.6 Quake Near Corona

On May 1, 2024, at 17:27 UTC (10:27 AM PST), a preliminary magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck the Los Angeles region, approximately 52 miles from Corona in the Greater Los Angeles Area, California. The epicenter was located at 33.817°N, 117.639°W, at a depth of 92 kilometers.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was preceded by a magnitude 4.1 tremor at 2:49 PM PT on Wednesday, two miles from Corona. The region has been experiencing a series of winter storms and aftershocks since last week.
In the past 24 hours, the Los Angeles and Southern California area has recorded 11 earthquakes with a magnitude of 1.5 or greater. In the past 7 days, 62 earthquakes have been reported, and in the past 30 days, the region has experienced 250 quakes. Over the past year, 2,956 earthquakes have been recorded in the area.
