Councillor Parrish to Resign Early for Mayoral Run
Mississauga Councillor Carolyn Parrish has announced her resignation date.
She will step down from her Ward 5 seat on March 15th, 2024.
Parrish's decision comes as she prepares to run for mayor in the upcoming municipal election. She says she will resign to save taxpayers money by limiting the cost of a by-election.
The by-election for Ward 5 is expected to cost approximately $500,000. By resigning early, Parrish will avoid triggering a by-election and save the city this expense.
Parrish has served as Ward 5 Councillor since 2018. She is a former journalist and has a long history of community involvement in Mississauga.
